Purpose

Discuss important educational topics that affect our community, and the challenges and opportunities of pursuing higher education.

Explore the social, academic, and economic status of self-identifying Latinas in the US. Their sense of belonging in educational institutions, the experience of the educated Latina professional, coupled with mental health and self-advocacy

Imposter syndrome; students deeming their achievements and doubting their skills and intellect. Seeking opportunities that would help them grow as a person such as campus organizations.

First-gen college students, the daughters of immigrants seeking higher education to obtain a college degree whose parents did or didn’t support an education pathway to independence and freedom. Finding it difficult navigating higher education and relying on themselves to make the right choices.

Developing Leaders on School Campuses

While also seeking to examine the social, cultural, economic contexts and policies that influence the identity of student communities and their school experiences. This is meant to develop and sharpen students’ critical thinking skills.

Training for Educators, Staff, Teachers and Administrative Staff.

The purpose is to help students find their voice and offer support. Participants will hear from local partners on how to include community in the classroom, as well as how to access student support and engagement resources.

Opportunities that will enhance a student’s school experience.

Knowledge and skills needed to prepare them for graduation and navigatinglife after graduation.
