Video Essay: Amiga Let’s Talk: Breast Cancer In Our Community

Did you know that in 2025, about 316,950 women in the U.S. will be diagnosed with invasive breast cancer? And for Latinas, it’s the leading cancer-related cause of death. Yet, in so many of our families, conversations about prevention and early detection just aren’t happening–and that needs to change.

This Women’s History Month, the Latina Leadership Podcast is bringing this important topic front and center. In this heartfelt video essay, our host, Anjelica Cazares, gets real about navigating her first mammogram and confronting the realities of breast health as a Latina. Plus, we hear insights from Cinthia Gonzalez from the National Breast Cancer Foundation, Dr. Ines Sanchez Rivera from Texas Oncology, and Carmen Fraser, a breast cancer survivor and former nurse.

Let’s break the silence, amigas. It’s time to take charge of our health, lift each other up, and spread awareness in our community. We’re in this together.
